Latin News Briefs: 'Unplugged,' Putumayo

-Sony BMG is releasing its first-ever all-Spanish version of its “Best of MTV Unplugged” series. The CD and DVD, which goes on sale today, contains 15 songs from “Unplugged” performances by Shakira, Mana, La Ley, Ricky Martin, Café Tacvba, Soda Stereo, Caifanes and Alejandro Sanz, among others.
-World music label Putumayo is releasing “Sesame Street Playground,” a CD/DVD of Sesame Street songs from around the globe, worldwide on Sept. 30.
The set includes 15 songs and five videos from locally-produced Sesame Streets in Mexico, Brazil, France, China, India, Israel, the Netherlands, Palestine, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania and the U.S. Mexican pop star Aleks Syntek joins the “Plaza Sesamo” characters on one track and video, for “Ricas Frutas.”
“Sesame Street Playground” is the first audio CD to be distributed worldwide from Sesame Workshop, the company that produces “Sesame Street.”
