U.S. jazz singer Al Jarreau was discharged from hospital in the French city of Marseille on Sunday after being treated for heart palpitations, and plans to resume his tour in Germany on Tuesday, officials said.

Jarreau, 70, collapsed during a concert in Barcelonnette in southeast France on July 22 and was admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties.

He was forced to scrap three shows, but said on his Web site that he expected to fulfill his remaining worldwide concert commitments.

Jarreau, winner of six Grammy awards, is the composer of such hits as "Boogie Down" and "Roof Garden."
