Marc Anthony, Fergie, Enrique Iglesias To Play Miami Dolphins Home Opener

August 19, 2010

By By Ayala Ben-Yehuda

In what looks like the NFL's latest bid to attract Latino audiences, Marc Anthony, Fergie and Enrique Iglesias will perform at the Miami Dolphins' home opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 26 to mark Hispanic Heritage Month.

Telemundo will broadcast the game, its first Sunday Night Football match, on its stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and Miami.

Marc Anthony and Fergie -- who have partnership stakes in the Dolphins -- will sing the national anthem, and Enrique Iglesias will perform at halftime after an introduction by Gloria Estefan, another partner in the team. Iglesias' single, "I Like It," will be used in a Dolphins TV campaign, albeit without the featured Pitbull vocal.

Texas musician Alejandro Escovedo is playing the pre-game tailgate party. The Dolphins' opening day concerts will be produced by executive producer David Saltz and Game Day Entertainment LLC.

The NFL already runs promotional spots in Spanish-language media. The league linked up with Univision.com in 2008 to power its Spanish website, NFLatino.com, and has featured Latin acts in its Pepsi M?sica Super Bowl Fiesta concert.
