ASCAP Flips Switch On Free App

September 01, 2010

By By Ed Christman

ASCAP launched a free app for Apple's portable devices today. The app allows ASCAP members to access their own catalog, performance and royalty information through the organizations membership access portal.

Beyond its members, the app will allow other music industry executives and consumers to search ASCAPS 8.5 million copyrighted musical works catalog. So for example, music supervisors for commercials, television and movies can have 24/7 access to the catalog from anywhere in the world, ASCAP executives say.

While the App is initially available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod, ASCAP plans on eventually offering versions of the App for other smart phones.

The ASCAP Mobile app is the latest in a series of technology enhancements that ASCAP has deployed in the past year to make it more convenient for its members to conduct their business and pursue their creativity, including redesigning its website, revamped royalty statements and new e-statements that serves as a performance royalty management tool, the organization says in making the App announcement.
